How to Choose Wine for Your Wedding

Many occasions are associated with champagnes, especially during weddings. Other than champagne, even wine holds a lot of importance during occasions. It is one of those special beverages that is served to raise a toast in most weddings. Though you may not know a lot about wines, this article would help you select an appropriate wine for your wedding.

Choosing the Wine

If a person has knowledge about wines, then choosing the right one wouldn’t be a problem, but if you have limited knowledge then be careful with your selection. It is important to test a sample of wine before you finalize it. If you want to make your own selection, then choose a wine that would complement your wedding.

If you are hiring a caterer for your wedding, then a good caterer would surely have knowledge about different types of wines to be served. The caterer would know what kind of wine to serve with appetizers and what would go well with the main course.

It is not possible to please everyone, therefore be selective about choosing the wine. Choosing the wine depends on factors like:

Number of Guests-

Since there are many types of wine, therefore you would want to known what does your family, friends and guests prefer. There are red, white, sparkling, rose and dessert wines.

Menu-

What is on the menu, depends on the type of wine you choose. Wines like:

  • Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine and goes well with seafood, eggs, chicken, salads and vegetables.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine and goes well with Americans as they prefer eating a hearty meal.
  • Dry rose is a fruity and crisp wine and is not very sweet. It goes very well with pork, salads, poultry, salmon and tuna. This wine is popularly used during weddings as it can be used in the night and day, cold and warm weather.

Time of the Year-

Choosing wine also depends on what time of the year you are getting married. If the wedding is an outdoor one, then serve a wine that is light and refreshing. People who prefer red wine you can serve them Grand Cru Beaujolais or even dry rose.

Wine Suggestions-

The two types of wines that go well with most types of food are Pinot Noir which is red wine and Sauvignon Blanc which is white wine. Both these wines are less fruity and lighter as compared to Merlot and Chardonnay. Always stick to something that you know your guests would enjoy drinking.
