How to Plan a Menu for an Engagement Party

Planning an engagement or a wedding is always something that needs your complete attention and time. Along with other preparations, one needs to take care of the menu. Usually for an engagement party, appetisers are served with beverages to guests. An engagement party can be a formal or just a get together with close relatives and friends.

  • After deciding the engagement theme, plan the menu accordingly. If it’s going to be a formal party, then serving cheese or macaroni is not a good idea. However, serving lobsters would also be a little too much.
  • Make arrangements for a caterer as this would make your work easy. Though this may cost you a little more, but you can be rest assured that the work is organised.
  • Decide if you want to serve a three course meal or a hors d’oeuvres. As, serving only appetisers may just be too plain for an engagement party.
  • You need to also plan if the cooking would be done at the venue, therefore you may need to create some space for the cook.
  • Though it is not possible to please all your guests, but make a list of dishes that you would want to serve.
  • You would also have to consider if any of your guests are suffering from any types of food allergies, so that you can cancel it from the menu or have an alternate dish.
  • If you decide to have an informal engagement party, then plan for a pot-luck. This would be a great way to try out other dishes and to relieve yourself from the stress of cooking for a huge crowd.
  • Another good thing about arranging a pot-luck would be a good way for all guests to interact and have an interesting party.
